If you are looking for a city in the Phoenix Metro area that combines world-class entertainment, family-friendly neighborhoods, and incredible value, Glendale deserves a very close look. I have watched Glendale transform over the past several years into one of the most exciting cities in the entire Valley. Between the billion-dollar developments on the horizon, the professional sports venues, the parks, the food, and the strong school options, Glendale is quickly becoming the place where families want to be in 2026.
VAI Resort is the headliner — a nearly $1.3 billion resort and entertainment complex being built right next to State Farm Stadium, tentatively set to open late 2026. When complete, it will feature approximately 1,100 hotel rooms, an 11,000-seat concert amphitheater, a 5-acre white sand beach oasis with temperature-controlled pools, a European-style party island, a two-story nightclub, and 12 restaurants including a location from celebrity chef José Andrés called Bar Mar. Mattel Adventure Park is another game-changer — a $260 million theme park featuring two Hot Wheels roller coasters, a Barbie Beach House, and a Dream Closet experience with life-like Barbie holograms. One of the most anticipated family attractions coming to the Phoenix Metro area.
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is already the largest water park in the Phoenix Metro with 30+ attractions and a 700,000-gallon wave pool. New for 2026 is Riptide, being billed as the tallest water slide in the Southwest. Wildlife World Zoo rounds out the entertainment with 600+ exotic species, a petting zoo, and daily shows — one of those attractions that never gets old for families.
From a real estate perspective, Glendale offers some of the best value in the Valley. At a median of roughly $425,000–$455,000, you get strong schools in Deer Valley Unified and Peoria Unified, beautiful masterplanned communities like Arrowhead Ranch with scenic lakes and mature trees, and easy access to every major amenity. Major employers include Luke Air Force Base, Midwestern University, Banner Health, and the growing hospitality sector — with thousands of new jobs expected when VAI Resort opens.

When I first started helping families find homes across the Phoenix Metro, Scottsdale was the place everyone talked about. After years of working in this market, I can tell you that Scottsdale truly lives up to its reputation. Whether you are drawn to world-class dining, stunning natural landscapes, or vibrant cultural attractions, Scottsdale offers something special that keeps residents coming back year after year.
